For School Committee Chairman and TMLP Commissioner Gregory DeMelo, public service is the most rewarding part of his career. Greg will use his knowledge and expertise in financial management as he currently oversees a combined $230 million operating budgets of Taunton Public Schools District and the TMLP. Greg will act in the best interest of all Bristol County citizens and be fiscally responsible while making decisions that ultimately affect all citizens of Bristol County.
Management Experience
Greg’s experience as a Taunton Municipal Lighting Plant Commissioner has showcased his success in supporting the tremendous and talented workforce that keeps the lights on and the rates low and affordable.
School Committee Experience
As a school committee member, Greg and his colleagues have directly affected the lives of young adults as they’ve pursued post-secondary education, the military, a career in the trades, or just being a productive model citizen.

Current Career Experience
In 2008, Greg began his career at Bridgewater State University in the Division of Finance. Greg transformed and implemented a managed travel program, saving the university over $250k annually while providing superior customer service and duty of care to the BSU community.
Municipal and State Experience
Greg is the only candidate with Municipal and State Government budget finance experience. He will use that experience to leverage additional financial resources from local, state, and federal governments.
Greg believes in regionalizing public services, including waste management, recycling, water resources, and clean energy.
Greg strongly advocates for public oversight of hospitals, nursing homes, and all other healthcare facilities.
